Antonio & Allison Official Cello Impulse Responses
There’s a reason studio-recorded strings feel so alive: the microphones, the room, the preamps, and the finishing touches all work together to capture body, air, and dimension. But when strings are run straight from a pickup, the result can be practical—yet often thin, mid-forward, and disconnected from the natural resonance of the instrument.
The Antonio & Alison Marin Official String Impulse Responses are designed to close that gap. These IRs help you bring the tone of a beautifully captured studio string sound to the stage and into streaming mixes, shaping the character of a direct pickup into something that feels more like studio microphones and musical processing—without sacrificing the clarity and consistency players need in real-world environments.
Whether you’re a string player running a pickup live, a producer trying to elevate DI strings in a session, or a livestream engineer needing strings to sit naturally in a broadcast mix, this library was built to give you practical, mix-ready options that translate.
The Core Idea: From Direct Pickup to Studio String Tone
Direct pickups are great for control, feedback resistance, and reliability—but they can lack the depth and realism you hear in a studio recording. These IRs are intended to “move” your pickup signal toward a more natural result by adding:
- A stronger sense of body resonance
- More air and detail, like a mic’d capture
- A smoother, more finished mix-ready feel
- Options to adapt to different instruments, pickups, rigs, and PA systems
The end goal is simple: a string tone that feels more organic and sits better in the mix, whether you’re playing live or printing parts into a production for streaming.
Important: What You Need to Use These IRs
Live Use (Stage Rigs) To use these impulse responses live, you’ll need an IR loader (a device or hardware platform that can load impulse responses). A few common options include Line 6 HX Stomp, TC Electronic Impulse IR Loader, or any pedal format IR loader that works with guitar.
We’ve provided versions intended to be compatible with any standard IR loader, so you can use the platform you already prefer.
Studio / DAW Use In a DAW, you can load these using virtually any IR-loading plugin. For example, Logic’s Space Designer can be used as an IR loader, but you can also use third-party IR loader plugins in any DAW you’re working in.

Two IR Lengths
These two lengths give you flexibility depending on your system and needs—whether you’re prioritizing efficiency or maximum detail.
How to Choose the Right IR (Quick Guidance)
If you’re not sure where to start, these are easy entry points:
- If your pickup sounds harsh, quacky, or thin: start with Blend (Piezo + Mic), then try Non Mid-Scooped
- If your sound is dark or buried in the mix: try Bright, and consider Mid Scooped for quicker placement
- If you want the most “true” starting point: begin with Standard, then adjust from there
Because you have multiple microphone flavors plus a signature blend, you can choose what best matches your musical context—more detail, more warmth, more polish, or a balanced “finished” sound.
Built for Stage, Studio, and Streaming
The Antonio & Alison Marin Official String IRs were created for the real places strings live today:
- Live performance: a more natural, mic-like string tone through your rig
- Studio production: DI strings that sit with depth and realism
- Livestream/broadcast: a smoother, more organic tone that translates to streaming mixes
If you’ve ever wished your direct strings sounded less “plugged in” and more like what you’d hear in a great recording, this library is designed to help you get there—quickly, consistently, and musically.
